YOUR SKIN REFLECTS YOUR LIVER HEALTH #Part2

TIPS TO A HEALTHIER YOU:
* DIET: Radiant skin begins with your diet! You may be surprised to learn that what you eat can dramatically affect the condition of your skin.
Raw juices are another tool to clear the skin and I recommend you juice citrus, pear, carrot, kale, mint, basil, apple and cabbage. You can make a whole week’s supply of juice at one time and freeze it in glass jars with a lid on top immediately after making it.

* Omega 3 supplements (EPA, DHA, ALA): Sources Fish Oil, Flaxseed, Pumpkin Seed, Walnuts
Benefits: Omega-3's are part of a group of essential fatty acids which our bodies are unable to synthesize on our own.   Consumption of omega-3 through supplementation or eating certain plants and fish is known to modulate the balance of lipid inflammatory mediators, and can thereby make a valuable contribution in the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders.

·         Omega-3's are particularly good at reducing inflammation throughout the body.
·         Inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis, psoriasis have often greatly improve when the proper amounts and concentrations of essential fatty acids are consumed.
·         Omega-3 many contribute to reduction in the number of flare-ups as well as the severity of scaling and redness.  Supplementation usually improves skin moisture and appearance, as well as dry skin and eczema.

 * Vitamin D-3: Source → Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel, Nuts, Eggs, Dairy foods (If no allergen present)
Benefits: Vitamin D-3, or cholecalciferol, is naturally manufactured in the skin, primarily through exposure to sunlight.  Recent research indicates there are numerous health benefits to vitamin D supplementation, supporting relief from many inflammatory ailments and medical conditions.
D-3 matches what is produced within human skin, and is much more efficiently converted by the liver to support circulating active levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D.
Vitamin D activates genes that support an immune response to foreign entities in the body.
Pro-inflammatory cytokines may be responsible for many lasting health issues. Vitamin D3 down-regulates cytokine activity and supports a healthy inflammatory response
In order to maximize the anti-inflammatory benefits of supplementation, particularly vitamin D, we recommend that you consider priming your system with this detox package, to set the stage for optimal nutrient absorption and function in the body.

* Selenium: Source → Brazil Nuts, Oysters, Tuna, Cod, Salmon, Sunflower
Benefits: Selenium is an incredibly important trace mineral that is vital to the body for proper function of various organs.   It is as a component of glutathione peroxidase, an enzyme necessary for the antioxidant function which protects against cellular damage from the free radicals that cause inflammation, aging, and promote skin cancer.
Selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase and its effects on glutathione activity may also have a significant role in acne severity.
Selenium and vitamin E likely play complementary roles in increasing glutathione activity and reducing overall oxidative stress in the body.

1        * Vitamin E: Source  → Almonds, Hazelnuts, Sunflower, Wheat germ, Safflower, Corn
Benefits: Vitamin E is the most abundant fat-soluble antioxidant found in the skin. It is secreted
on the skin surface through the sebum, an oily substance that coats the outer layer of the skin.  This secretion happens roughly 7 days after consumption of vitamin E-rich foods, and is an important protective factor on the skin’s surface. Plays a synergistic role with Selenium in improving glutathione levels in the body, further increasing antioxidant activity.

·         It is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, defending the skin against free radicals and reactive oxygen species that would otherwise cause damage.
·         Adequate levels in the skin may prevent inflammatory damage from sun exposure, helping to reduce the aging and skin cancer risk from excessive UV radiation.
·         It even suppresses the formation of arachidonic acid, which could help improve inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
